Western Pass. Winter Closure Notice
The Western Pass. designated P.OESTE on institutional maps, altitude 1,780 metres. is hereby closed to all non-authorised traffic effective from the date of this notice. Closure is triggered by the accumulation of snowpack above the threshold recorded at the pass monitoring station. The threshold has been reached. The pass is closed.
Closure notices for the Western Pass have been issued every year without exception since Year 312. In some years the closure lasts six weeks. In others, it has lasted until late spring. The Year 809 closure. the longest on record. lasted ████████ weeks. The circumstances of that closure are filed separately under reference ████████ and are not discussed in this notice.

Communities on the western side of the pass are advised that supply deliveries will be rerouted via the Northern Supply Corridor for the duration of the closure. Transit times will increase by an estimated three to four days. Communities are advised to plan accordingly.
Unauthorised crossing of the Western Pass during closure is prohibited. Persons found in violation are subject to institutional sanction under Route Authority regulations filed in Year 744. The regulations have not been updated since Year 744. There is a provision within them that has never been invoked. The Route Authority has not published what that provision requires.
He could not describe the sound precisely. He said it was not wind. He said it was not an animal. He said the closest thing he could compare it to was the sound a stone makes when it is struck. but sustained, and coming from no particular direction.
He was escorted back to the western settlements. No further action was taken. I am noting this because the regulations require me to note it. I am not certain what category this observation belongs to.
The pass is closed. The world on the other side is not explained.
