The annual inspection of the lower east wing wool storage was conducted on Day 092 of Year 811. Chambers 4, 5, and 6 contain the winter reserve stock — approximately 340 bales of burel wool graded and stored in Year 810 for distribution during the following winter season. The stock was inspected and certified as sound at the time of storage.
The inspection found unusual fibre deterioration across approximately sixty percent of the bales in chamber 5. The deterioration pattern does not correspond to moisture damage, pest activity, or standard age degradation. The fibres in the affected bales have broken in a consistent directional pattern — not randomly, as would be expected from organic deterioration, but aligned, as though the material had been stressed repeatedly in the same direction.
Chambers 4 and 6 show no deterioration. The affected bales in chamber 5 were stored under identical conditions to the unaffected stock. The chamber seals were intact. No moisture was detected in the stone or in the air of the chamber at the time of inspection.
The material inspector noted that the floor of chamber 5 runs directly above the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX section of the lower infrastructure. This is noted here. No connection has been established.
